There are many toxic chemicals that are found in our food supplies. Toxic hormones can be found in our meat. Many producers use bovine growth hormone, which is known to cause prostate and testicular cancer in men and breast and ovarian cancer in women. Pesticides found in fruits and vegetables can cause free radicals. Heavy metals, which most come from amalgams and nickel crowns, aluminum in antiperspirants and packaged foods. Excitotoxins are neurotransmitters that can cause cell death when their actions are prolonged. Excitotoxins are compounds like glutamate (monosodium glutamate or MSG), aspartame, NutraSweet and homocysteine. When aluminum (from antiperspirants) binds with aspartate, these bind together and it becomes aluminum aspartate. This is known to cross the blood-brain barrier and may be a leading contributor to Alzheimer’s disease.
Infections are known to cause inflammation and decrease our immune response. This can cause your immune system to actually attack your joints. Dental infections due to root canals can have an underlying infection. Some root canals can be like a “leaky faucet.” Gut infections like H. pylori, parasites, etc. can be linked to chronic pain.
How do you stop your immune system from attacking your body? You must decrease inflammation, detoxify the body, and build up the immune system. Keep this in mind: approximately 80 percent of your immune system is right there in your guts. One of the biggest problems I have seen over the years that affects the health of the gut is hypochlorhydria. Just what is that? Decreased stomach acid. Hydrochloric acid in the stomach functions to allow better flow of the lymphatic system and it helps create methyl groups. Methyl groups help to turn “good” genes on and “bad” genes off.
